The end...overwhelming!
I've been back in Denmark for a week now (in 6 ½ hours to be precise...and that's important in DK, hihi) and I'm not at all used to it yet! I can't really figure it out...I miss sooo many things about Mexico and I'm also enjoying seeing friends and familiy here again...so at the minute I spend my days with friends and family and my nights in front of the computer talking to my Mexican friends. That leaves me with about 3-4 hours of sleep, don't think I can continue like that for long! Hmm...reverse culture shock I wonder? Maybe I should tell my family about this phenomenon...they must be a bit disappointed when everybody asks me: "So is it good to be back home?" and I don't know what to answer...because I still can't believe I'm in Denmark, it feels so surreal. Just to give you an example - it is so weird..but people shake hands in this country (so I gave a friend of Liam's a kiss on the cheek today even though I've never met him..of course he wanted to shake hands...jajajaja). The last few times after I've come home after being away for 6 months the transition has been easier, guess it's because this time I stayed in one place (well, most of the time) and immersed myself in the Mexican culture...I loved it and still do! I feel very privileged - in the first place to get the opportunity to study abroad and then to experience a semester as amazing, incredible, and fantastic as mine! Sometimes I can't believe it really happened!
The last few days in Mexico I felt like living in a bubble (that was about to burst), I knew I was saying goodbye but I never really understood it, surreal when I think about it even today.
I came back to Cuernavaca Sunday and stayed with Dani. The trip from Guanajuato turned out to be a bit longer than expected (you can't plan everything..or rather...you can plan it but it rarely works out that way..so why bother?) ...took the bus from Guanajuato to León around noon and from there to Mexico City (to the Northern busstation). I asked the nice woman behind the desk about four times whether there would still be buses directly to Cuernavaca when I got there, and of course the answer was yes - she even checked the departures in the computer system. As could be expected the last bus had left (like 5 hours before I got there..) when I arrived to the Northern busstation, so I took the metro all the way through the city to the Southern busstation where buses run more frequently to Cuernavaca. That was a looooong journey with my backpack..the metrostations are HUGE so got to walk quite a bit (that was when I saw all the different times at the clocks). Luckily for me - I was travelling in Mexico, so in the very instance I got into the metro train a guy offered me his seat (didnt't think twice...thanks - a lot!). So..got to the Southern busstation and borded the bus to Cuernavaca. So far so good..now the journey turned into another 'cellphone adventure'..I sent a message to Dani telling her that I was leaving DF now and would be in Cuernavaca in like 1½ hr. ..but of course the phone wouldn't send it!! Guess I didn't have more credit (why didn't it tell me that sooner?!). Asked a woman if she had one I could borrow - nope, but she had a phonecard so we could call Dani when we got to Cuerna, so had to settle with that.. She was really helpful and finally I got through to Dani! I guess I just have to accept that I am hopeless with that bit of technology called mobile phones...at least I'm trying - I might give op soon though! I nearly sent an message to the number '2' today...arghhh (in my panick I pressed the red button MANY times and managed to cancel..phew)! Anyways, it was really good to see Dani again and good to be back.
Tuesday Arianna and co. picked me up and we went to her place for her party...quite a journey! She lives in the very Northern part of Cuernavaca on the top of a hill/mountain- she says there's a beutiful view over Cuernavaca from the pool. Arriving there was 'like wow'...it was huge! First we passed the house, then through a big garden, then there was the tennis court and the boccia ditto (half-italian family living here..), then the grandparents' house and then the bungalow where Gaby and Fer slept (it was all uphill..Gaby and I did the 'trip' from the tennis court once..then found the door to the bungalow locked..of course we didn't bring the keys!). I slept in Arianna's room (of course there was an extra bed..said the place is huge!), she also had her own private bathroom...in Mexico the houses generally have more bathrooms that I'm used to! She shared the room with her older sister - wouldn't say
Wednesday night I learned a really cool card game, continental (maybe I liked it because I won, hihi) and I had my last Indio - Rick actually gave me his 'Indio-bracelet' (so now it starts a domino-effect of thoughts about Mexico). a really and Fabian (Dani's brother) gave me a really cool (and funny!..have skimmed a few pages) book about Mexicans (well, I could keep listing presents...the o-word again). Of course I had to pack my stuff too...as always I left that for the night and was done 15 min. before the taxi arrived 03.45...jajajaja, don't know why it takes me soooo long.
SURPRIIIIISE...Yong, Rauna and Andy smuggled me into 'Hundige-huset' to surprise everybody from AC (my football team in DK) - they were having a party and thought I would be landing the following day...but Yong had arranged for me to come home to the party and they didn't know there was a 'secret guest'. It was really good to see them again! I talked and talked (listened and listened to be more precise) all night, good to hear about all the things that had happened while I was in Mexico!
Thursday I moved into my apartment...a bit odd since I'd never met the girl I am now sharing it with
