The end...overwhelming!

I've received a few (well, more than a few!!!) 'hints' not to write my blog in Danish (maybe its reasonable since we are so few inhabitants in this cold country called Denmark..)...soooo, this last post will be in the widely recognised language English!
I've been back in Denmark for a week now (in 6 ½ hours to be precise...and that's important in DK, hihi) and I'm not at all used to it yet! I can't really figure it out...I miss sooo many things about Mexico and I'm also enjoying seeing friends and familiy here again...so at the minute I spend my days with friends and family and my nights in front of the computer talking to my Mexican friends. That leaves me with about 3-4 hours of sleep, don't think I can continue like that for long! Hmm...reverse culture shock I wonder? Maybe I should tell my family about this phenomenon...they must be a bit disappointed when everybody asks me: "So is it good to be back home?" and I don't know what to answer...because I still can't believe I'm in Denmark, it feels so surreal. Just to give you an example - it is so weird..but people shake hands in this country (so I gave a friend of Liam's a kiss on the cheek today even though I've never met him..of course he wanted to shake hands...jajajaja). The last few times after I've come home after being away for 6 months the transition has been easier, guess it's because this time I stayed in one place (well, most of the time) and immersed myself in the Mexican culture...I loved it and still do! I feel very privileged - in the first place to get the opportunity to study abroad and then to experience a semester as amazing, incredible, and fantastic as mine! Sometimes I can't believe it really happened!
The last few days in Mexico I felt like living in a bubble (that was about to burst), I knew I was saying goodbye but I never really understood it, surreal when I think about it even today.
I came back to Cuernavaca Sunday and stayed with Dani. The trip from Guanajuato turned out to be a bit longer than expected (you can't plan everything..or rather...you can plan it but it rarely works out that way..so why bother?) ...took the bus from Guanajuato to León around noon and from there to Mexico City (to the Northern busstation). I asked the nice woman behind the desk about four times whether there would still be buses directly to Cuernavaca when I got there, and of course the answer was yes - she even checked the departures in the computer system. As could be expected the last bus had left (like 5 hours before I got there..) when I arrived to the Northern busstation, so I took the metro all the way through the city to the Southern busstation where buses run more frequently to Cuernavaca. That was a looooong journey with my backpack..the metrostations are HUGE so got to walk quite a bit (that was when I saw all the different times at the clocks). Luckily for me - I was travelling in Mexico, so in the very instance I got into the metro train a guy offered me his seat (didnt't think twice...thanks - a lot!). So..got to the Southern busstation and borded the bus to Cuernavaca. So far so good..now the journey turned into another 'cellphone adventure'..I sent a message to Dani telling her that I was leaving DF now and would be in Cuernavaca in like 1½ hr. ..but of course the phone wouldn't send it!! Guess I didn't have more credit (why didn't it tell me that sooner?!). Asked a woman if she had one I could borrow - nope, but she had a phonecard so we could call Dani when we got to Cuerna, so had to settle with that.. She was really helpful and finally I got through to Dani! I guess I just have to accept that I am hopeless with that bit of technology called mobile phones...at least I'm trying - I might give op soon though! I nearly sent an message to the number '2' today...arghhh (in my panick I pressed the red button MANY times and managed to cancel..phew)! Anyways, it was really good to see Dani again and good to be back.
Tuesday Arianna and co. picked me up and we went to her place for her party...quite a journey! She lives in the very Northern part of Cuernavaca on the top of a hill/mountain- she says there's a beutiful view over Cuernavaca from the pool. Arriving there was 'like wow'...it was huge! First we passed the house, then through a big garden, then there was the tennis court and the boccia ditto (half-italian family living here..), then the grandparents' house and then the bungalow where Gaby and Fer slept (it was all uphill..Gaby and I did the 'trip' from the tennis court once..then found the door to the bungalow locked..of course we didn't bring the keys!). I slept in Arianna's room (of course there was an extra bed..said the place is huge!), she also had her own private bathroom...in Mexico the houses generally have more bathrooms that I'm used to! She shared the room with her older sister - wouldn't say I met her sister though...I saw her...but was a bit tired. Also I've got an excellent video from the night with the classic 'discussion' between Gaby and Arianna - also starring Diana (keyword: 'obstacles'), let's just say you should never underestimate body language!!!! My parents actually thought it was 'all arranged and planned' because I was recording it...but had to tell them..nope, this is just the way it was, hehe. After Fer and Gaby (some vodka was involved here..) went to bed, Arianna and I stayed up for a while talking, and then about 5 am it was time to find the house, her room and go to bed...Arianna had to leave at 7 am for classes (she used a 'falta' though). We had like a three course meal for breakfast - fruits (never tasted 'granadas' before - even got some as 'take-away', can't get used to all the fruit trees, it's really cool!), then cereals (well, I had cereals, jajajaja) and then quesadillas! Then we were ready to go the game...the fut-team had arranged one last game - a goodbye-match. However the other team didn't show up so we ended up playing TEC against TEC for a while. Definitely okay that we didn't play for longer - I couldn't run for one more minute..! It was really really unexpected and I was extremely happy to get to play with them for one last time (and thanks to Dani for lending me shorts and socks, hehe). Well, they had more surprises for me...after the game they gave me a football - but not just any football! No, no, no - it was a signed 'Mexican-green' one with Mexico and 06 (happens to be my #) printed on it - no doubt the coolest ball I've ever owned! They also gave me a photo (from the final against Univac, another unforgettable day!) with greetings, it was all so overwhelming and something I never had imagined. And then when I heard about all the troubles they had gone through to find me the perfect ball (they wanted to give me a pink one like Dani's because I love that ball..)...I simply could not believe they would do all that - just for me! After the game I said goodbye to all of them, still seems unreal. Maybe that's just what goodbyes are like but it was hard to express just how much I've enjoyed spending time with them!
Wednesday night I learned a really cool card game, continental (maybe I liked it because I won, hihi) and I had my last Indio - Rick actually gave me his 'Indio-bracelet' (so now it starts a domino-effect of thoughts about Mexico). a really and Fabian (Dani's brother) gave me a really cool (and funny!..have skimmed a few pages) book about Mexicans (well, I could keep listing presents...the o-word again). Of course I had to pack my stuff too...as always I left that for the night and was done 15 min. before the taxi arrived 03.45...jajajaja, don't know why it takes me soooo long.
SURPRIIIIISE...Yong, Rauna and Andy smuggled me into 'Hundige-huset' to surprise everybody from AC (my football team in DK) - they were having a party and thought I would be landing the following day...but Yong had arranged for me to come home to the party and they didn't know there was a 'secret guest'. It was really good to see them again! I talked and talked (listened and listened to be more precise) all night, good to hear about all the things that had happened while I was in Mexico!
And well, can't believe how the weather is acting here..I slept three times before it started to snow...how lucky can one be?? The warmest winter ever in DK (well, don't know about ever but unusually warm) and three days after I arrive..the cold is back! Then the snow is gone in a few days and then after a week I wake up to 8 cm of snow (and it snows all day and night...I know for a fact 'cause I was walking home at 3:30 am) and then it's all melted/rained away in the morning..wetgrey wet grey.
Thursday I moved into my apartment...a bit odd since I'd never met the girl I am now sharing it with - and she has lived here for 6 months without me. And hmm...have never seen my room in such a mess! There's still a few boxes to unpack and all my stuff is covering the floor and every piece of furniture, jajajaja! And Thursday I was back at soccer practice too...cold (the water in our bottles actually froze, jajajaja) and good fun! But forgot my jacket at home and couldn't find the key to my bike (glad I had another in the basement..bike, not key) and had no bike lights..and then I forgot my gloves in Yong's car I guess (couldn't locate them when I had to bike home..1 km..a cold kilometer). Mette, you really have to come back to reality soon!! So I'm working on this at the minute...
